    Default Thin cutting frame saw

I'm looking for someone who operates a thin cutting frame saw , preferably in Brisbane, but anywhere in the eastern states would be of interest. I need to cut hardwood up to 200mm thick into 4mm slices. Band saws are too inaccurate.

Sorry, I can't help you, but I would think Duginski worshippers would take offence about bandsaws being too inaccurate for a 4mm cut! [After watching his "bandsaw DVD" I suspect we would all become Duginski worshippers -- that boy sure knows how to tune a bandsaw! ]

    Alan,
the only frame saws I've ever seen are long gone now, huge bloody things in the local mills that you could pass logs the size of railway carriages through. I've got a feeling that they would be a sight less accurate than a good bandsaw. Other than those old monsters I've never heard of frame saws being used nowadays. Be interested to hear of any. My table saw will cut 125mm, dead accurate. Flip the workpiece over and do a second pass and you'd get a tad under 250mm. You lose about 4mm to the kerf though.

    I don't think I could manage it.

    1. I don't live in Brisbane.

    2. My tiny 10" bandsaw will take up to 210mm kiln dried hardwood, which is too thick/wide for your purposes.

    3. I can cut down to 2mm thick, whihc is half the thickness you want.

(I think that if you find someone with a properly set up re-sawing bandsaw, you problem will be solved instantaneously. If you find someone who can actually drive a framesaw to cut this for you, chances are they won't do it for you because it's hard work... )

If you can't do that job on a bandsaw then, either the operator or the bandsaw is not set up properly
