Tool Merchants in SE QLD
Having recently moved to Brisbane, I was wondering who are the purveyors of quality tools in SE Qld?
So far, I have visited Carbatec, Hare and Forbes and Gregory Machinery.
Any one have any experience of Gary Pye Woodturning?
I supppose I'll see a few at the WW show but that's not 'til May and I can't wait that long!"If something is really worth doing, it is worth doing badly." - GK Chesterton

G'day.
There is a bloke posted here a month or so ago about opening a tool shop in Ashmore on the G. Coast.
Big fluro orange place in cunnamurra road and dominions road.
I haven't been there yet, but intend to do so in the next few weeks.
Hooroo.

Gary Pye hasn't the range of the other stores but carries more turning gear (obviously) and has excellent service. I've dealt with all four stores you mentioned and he has the best service of them as well as competetive prices. That bright orange toolshop in Ashmore has been there for quite a few years, had a very good range of portable power tools but not much specialised "woodie" stuff, at least not when I went in there.

I will drop in to GPW next time I head down that way and compare his prices to Gregory's."If something is really worth doing, it is worth doing badly." - GK Chesterton

Also there is Trade Tools all over Brisbane, and Glenfords, they both sometimes have good prices on particular gear - usually spray guns and air nailers etc.
There is also Northwood Tools - www.northwoodtools.com.au - but no shop front yet, only mail order/delivery type service, but does have some unique items you cant get anywhere else in Oz.How much wood could the woodchuck chuck if the woodchuck could chuck wood?
