New Tools
G'day chaps (and ladies). The retail therapy continues. I went out today and bought 4 x 600mm Dawn 'QA' Clamps at $32.58 each but got 'em for less 20% discount. While I was there I had a look at some nice Abbott and Ashby 6" and 8" bench grinders and they had one with a PA Multitool thing attached to it. It had a round sanding wheel and a linishing belt. It was 350 bucks. I was going to get it but the guy said he had one of the attachments in stock. I had a look. Made in Oz. Fits any 6" or 8" grinder. Will fit my ancient heirloom Skil 8". Was ony 250 bucks so I bought it. He let me have it for $195. All up I saved $78 which almost paid for the 2 Triton dust buckets I bought at Bunnies for my cyclone building project.
So far since my marriage went south I've bought the following:
Metabo BAS 317 Band Saw (and made a wooden base with lockable wheels for it.)
Domino Jointing kit
DeWalt DW 735 Heavy Duty 3 Blade Portable thicknesser
PA MultiTool
Dawn 600mm QA Clamps x 4
Triton Dust Buckets x 2
add this to the tools I bought when I was still wed:
Hitachi 10" SCMS and stand
Makita 3612 BR Router
Maktek 1/2" Router
GMC Laser 5 speed Bench Drill
DeWalt 14.4v Cordless Drill/ Driver
19 EriK Anton Berg Chisels
41 Stanley Planes
Bosch 125mm ROS
Bosch 115mm ROS
Triton 2000 Workcentre
Makita 9 1/4 Circular Saw (in the triton)
Makita 125mm Circular Saw ( A real little ripper of a machine)
Dewalt Jig Saw
GMC Star Wars JigSaw ????
Assorted Bessey and Irwin clamps
Pipe Clamps
Veritas Clamping bars
Triton Biscuit Joining System
Triton Router Table
Shop Made twin machine router table (fior the Gifkins)
Gifkins Deluxe Kit.
So its a bout time I stopped blatting on about 5hite and bloody made something to show you all.
Cheers
PS: When I have everything I need (looking at a second-hand jointer) and made Michael Storer's punt I'm gonna try and woo ex-swmbo back...(i think she still likes me a bit)If you never made a mistake, you never made anything!

No lathe mate. Never been that interested. Can only make so many fruit bowls and table legs. Will leave that part of the art to the experts.
I'm building a good set of users from the 41 planes. Will sell what I don't need.

Sheddie, I'd like to see the "600mm" (24 inch) G clamps. You must be built like a weight lifter because my 300mm (12 inch) Dawn G clamp is one seriously heavy bit of cast iron!

Hi Sheddie,
great list of tools there, can never have too many ! just don't ask me for a list of mine, it would take all night to type them and would use about 50 pages of screen area ........... a real tool addict from way back.
If you are going on the woooooooooooooing trail again, please add a battle bonnet to the list because when she sees what you have been up to, you may need some head protection,
Cheers,
Ron.

OK Sheddie,
Let's see Gifkins so you have the drawers covered, BS some nice legs and perhaps curved top, cabriole legs etc... Domi, well as many M&T's as you want... Looks like you should be making best use of this free time and turning out something like a freestanding cabinet on legs with drawers - just skip the turned stuff
...and for inspiration (careful many pics) http://www.pritameames.com/archives.html
(thanks to someone else on this forum who's name I can't remember!)

Hey Sheddy, its great to see that you've found retail therapy and the old addiction has been able to overcome your demons.
I saw your original posting a couple of weeks ago and felt sh*t been there done that even got the bloody T shirt, at the end of the day you've gotta look after yerself (cos no other bugger will).
Keep it up cos it'll all kick in when the "plastic" accounts all come in but "" it's only money and it really is the best therapy and after a few months it'll all feel better and you'll really enjoy what youve bought.

G'day Shedhand,
Freight will be the killer alright, damn was hoping it be more than just a local supplier - no probs, just have to sneak a few into the shed from Bunnies while SWMBO isn't looking.

OK, just finished attaching the PA MultiTool to the old Skil Bench Grinder (the neighbours will be pleased ) . It works a treat.
Next task is a little more study of and practice with my Dominatrix before I get into the little Doktors stool. (i mean the wooden stool ).If you never made a mistake, you never made anything!

These are the heaviest clamps I know of . Worked with a bloke in South Australia (ANR) once who got crushed by these when he was working in the Shunting yards at Port Augusta around 1971/2. The medics told him that when they released him he would die,. He asked for a smoke then when he finished it they pulled the carriages apart and he dropped dead.
If you never made a mistake, you never made anything!
