Do you have instructions for the sharpening jig - the one that holds the 2 blades at an angle - and blade setup? If you do would appreciate a copy as cannot find mine.

And just to confuse more another Geoff

Carbitool lists blades for the Towa on page 33 of their catalogue.

The blades are pretty common although longer than the current standard ones. I think Towa was one of the first (if not THE first) small electric hand plane. As a result they sort of set a standard. I've bought new generic ones at the local Bunnings.

    Hey Geoffs A-Z,
My sharpening jig didn't have any drive belts.
It was just a plate with wingnuts. It allowed you to hold the blade at the correct angle while sharpening.
I also allowed you to set the blades at the correct depth when reinstalling onto the drum but I can't remember how that worked.

The gadget for setting the blades is a separate piece of black plastic. I sent a drawing of that with measurements to one of the other Geoffs a long time ago.
The grinding wheel was an optional accessory. I don't have one of them. With care the hand device works quite well. I find it works best on sand paper.

    Default TOWA Sharpening Jig

    OK Folks,
A lot has happened since this was last under discussion but I have been cleaning some stuff which has been here for quite some time from my fathers workshop.
Just happens I have a TOWA sharpening kit model L-I20G.L-22G it looks new in the box complete with instructions.
Not sure where the planer went but its no longer here.
Happy to reply with photos if there is still any interest.
    Cheers
    David

    Default Towa Sharpening System

Sure see here but I would prefer to move the complete kit along as it is of no use to me.

I'm interested in your Sharpening Kit. I bought mine new in 1971 then years later my BIL gave me an earlier version. I think he was scared to use it
I live up near Tamworth so it would need to be Posted. I'm happy to pay the post. Please let me know what you want for the kit
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

interesting - I didn't come here for the sharpening stuff, but rather the curiosity seeing the name as there are TOWA branded straight razors from japan.
