TradeTools Direct & Glenfords
Just out of interest ... do the same people own the above two companies ? No real reason to ask because they both seem to sell the same stuff for similar money and offer the same quality service ... just interesting that's all.
I was reading an article by the owner of TradeTools Direct (Greg Ford) about how he started in the business of selling tools and he mentioned that he originally started out with his father in the 80's and named the company by mixing their names together. My somewhat simple brain led me to believe that Greg Ford also started Glenfords.
Reckon that's right ?
Steve.

I think you are pretty well on the mark, the sunday mail news paper in bris had an obituary for the father a couple of weeks ago in the tradetools ad, he did start tradetools and then went onto glenfords, apparently he was a very good age and still well into the bussiness.

Sad to hear the father passed away. Both stores seem to be as good as each other selling top notch 'Trade' quality stuff for good honest prices.
No more Bunnies for me ... except for all the Triton (ie. non-trade grade) gear of course

Greg Ford owns trade tools. They sold Glenfords a long time ago.

Yep, I can now confirm that too Soundman.
I just bought a couple of drills from Glenfords today and asked the salesperson what the deal was ... he said exactly what you said but he also added that the Glenfords stores were given a bad wrap back in the 80's just after the sale of the business and that ever since they've been in 'damage control'. Not too sure who would've done something like that because I've only ever had teriffic service from both stores although I'm now leaning more towards Glenfords after the excellent advice/service I had today.
Mystery solved !

Interesting story. I wonder how they go down at Springwood then because there is a TradeTools and Glenfords on the same block
How much wood could the woodchuck chuck if the woodchuck could chuck wood?

Similarly at Archerfield ... the two stores are only about 500m away from each other. This is obviously done on purpose to offer consumers greater choice (if one hasn't got it the other will probably have it) plus it keeps each store on its toes with regards to price so I suppose it's best for us and them.
The TradeTools store at Archerfield is friggin' massive though ... much bigger than the Glenfords store around the corner but that doesn't mean one is better than the other.
