Is this usual for a Tormek?
Hi
I've recently purchased a Tormek 1206, got it out of the box and found the power cord to be located at the front of the machine, is this usual?
Images on their web site and in their catalogue have the power cord at the back?
I've asked this question of the Australian distributor and am waiting for their response,Tony Ward
Now a power carver and living the dream.

Does it matter?
It all depends if you are sharpening towards the blade or away from it, doesnt it?

It has no front or back.... read the book, certain things are done from each side.
That is, in some cases the stone turns towards you & in some cases it turns away from you.
You did get a book with it didn't you?Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

I think that is the back. The one at work the stone is on the left and the strop is on the left. I think the stone should be turning so the top is rotating towards you.
Try take the guide out and put it in from the other side!Have a nice day - Cheers

Hi Tony,
Your machine is completely normal.
If we referred to the side of the machine with the TORMEK label, the 1206 comes of the housing on the front. On the 2006 it comes out on the back (non-label side).
But, as the other's point out - front and back are relative to the correct orientation of the machine for the universal support position required for the type of sharpening you are about to undertake.
Hope this helps.

its probably also located there so as to be away from the water etc the grinding wheel spins in? Less chance of getting moisture on the cord perhaps? Just a thought
How much wood could the woodchuck chuck if the woodchuck could chuck wood?
