Beautiful weather isn't it John? wouldn't miss it for quids, the back paddock is underwater and the donkeys are asking for lifejackets.
Now, what was the topic :confused:Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

Buggered if I know! But you're right it's still raining. Even the ducks are sheltering under the verandah!
How did you know my name was John? I thought my disguise was as good as Stoppers'Jack the Lad.

Carbatec
I've said it before...Carbatec have a great cattledog...shame about most everything else. I still enjoy going there to buy something in my lunch hour though...so much time to look, never troubled by customer service ... and you save so much money to spend somewhere else ...like on Rob Lee's specials.

There seems to be some un-happy people re Carbatec out there. I on the other hand am very happy and have the following observations regarding the Sydney store:
- great catalogue;
- they seem to be at the mercy of the main store for the supply of equipment;
- I have had great service from them when I have had problems. The new store owner visited my house (which is a long way from their store) 3 times in order to fix a problem.
- They've always been able to give me advise an answer my questions.
Regards,
Mike.

Hi,
just a note on all the hoo ha about Carba-Tec. I live 4km from the Perth Store.
I have had only the best service from everyone there. I have noticed that they do carry a huge amount of stock. The warehouse is enormous. The timber is generally very good except for the Pine (but that is everywhere in Perth). Every time they have ordered something for me, I have received the call when it has arrived. And NO - I do not work for Carba-Tec. (Work for a bank - don't shoot me).

JackoH, or is it John.
First of all congratulation with your 1000th posting.
It is not the bank associated with your question. It is the largest bank in OZ - only just. If the share price dropped any further we would not be #1.
Regards

They just keep popping up with odd happenings.
Vic CT are having a "clearance sale auction" on Saturday 26/2. Ad was in last weeks Trading Post.
In my neck of the woods it means one thing. Bye Carbe-who???
Is a shame. Pity there is no-one to fill this vacancy.

Ken,
I was there last Saturday picking up my mortiser and saw the flyer on the bench. Asked about it and what is being auctioned of are some old display stock that they have had for ages, amongst others I believe a bandsaw.
They are not closing but still have a lot of delivery problems in getting stuff from Brisbane.
I understand that Brisbane seems to be sitting on ordered stock so that we cancel orders and buy direct from them. I was told that Melbourne originally wasn't going to the last Melbourne WWW show but only went after getting assurances from Brisbane that whatever was sold at the show was to be delivered within four weeks. It is now February and they are still waiting on some stuff. :mad: :mad: :mad:
I think a lot of the blame should be apportioned to Brisbane who last year tried to cancel the Carbatec Melbourne franchise and is still playing funny b****rs. :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

I just think they have cash flow problems.
Nothing delivered, no cash coming in.....vise versa etc.etc.
I think blaming Brizzy for all thier probs is just a cop out.
But I could be wrong, wouldnt be the first time.

Some positive feedback
I was just in Carba-Tec Bayswater today and it is starting to look "semi organised". While I sent about 10mins walking around I was asked by two separate salesman if I needed any assistance .... maybe they are reading these threads too.
By the way, there seemed to be a new shipment just arrived as they had a lot of cases that they were bring in to the store, it doesn't look like they're shutting up shop to me.

Franchise deals can be funny things.
We the customers very rarely would get the full or correct story. From any of the parties.
I've known some people at different ends of franchise deals with a variety of outcomes and it is very easy for "certain things" to get blown up for "various reasons" which can be unhappy for all concerned.
Bad impressions can be made very easily.
