    Default Wixey Digital Gauge

Have any of you blokes installed one of these Wixey Digital Planer Gauge onto your thicknesser in particular a Carba-Tec CTJ-381 thicknesser?

Rod, have only seen the Wixey on pictures, but saw the Hafco ones on their machines. They seem like a good idea and certainly made it a cinch to set the height of the thicknesser. Also like the inch/metric switch over and the ability to zero off a given bit of timber, then take say 1mm off.

Once I have my new 15" thicknesser set up I'll probably spend the $100 on one of these, after all I saved $400, can't let that go to waste can I?

The one that really appeals to me is the one for the table saw, I can see a lot of uses for that one. Easy to calibrate to zero on a dado head, instant change from metric to inch, absolute measurements and incremental.

I almost went for the Incra TS-LS, but I think I'll get one of these instead.

    Cheaper too!

    Big Shed,
To currently adjust the thicknesser depth I've got to put me glasses on basically be right at eye level to get the measurement accurate. Anyway I've got a Wixey on order.

Well this unit finally arrived last friday 13. In having a fiddle around with it I noticed it only goes to 150mm whereas the thickness goes to 200mm. I re-checked the web site info... yep my stuff up. So one day when I get a minute to install it we'll see if it can go to 200mm.

    G'day Rod1949,

noticed that too of most digital gauges, they only measure to 150mm, H&F have one tha measures to 200mm for $90 from memory - which I'll get one day when I'm next out that way.
