    Post WoodRat

has anyone had any experience with the English WoodRat? Currently it's only available in Australia by mail order from the UK.

I'm thinking of buying one but haven't been able to locate any local testimonials?

    Wink

I have lots of ordinary English rats, rabbits, foxes, mice, cats and various flora right here which all seem to have done very well. They certainly outstrip all the local competition! I think adding an English woodrat to the local collection sounds like a great idea! Come to think of it, how many English woodrats already use this bulletin board?

    Question

    G'day Bernie

Just what exactly is an English WoodRat? Please don't come back with an answer like "A very polite rodent."

I am trying to be serious.

    Thumbs up

The woodrat is availaible in NZ from JACKS www.jacks.co.nz/dovetailers2.html or try the main "UK" site www.woodrat.com

The jacks' site gave me a booklet and an intro video. Cost in NZ$1300 approx. I like the look of it but, it is a bit exe at this stage of the game. I guess by the time you but half a dozen dovetail jigs the cost is simmilar.

    Exclamation

Bernie have you condidered other alternatives to the Woodrat if what you are intending is primarily, routed wood joints?
It appears that at NZ $1300 which equates to AUS $1021 today is a lot of dosh whilst there some very systems out there that will achieve the same for a lot less investment.
I have a Leigh Dovetail Jig with all the accoutrements that accomplishes most of the functions at a price that whilst not exactly cheap at $700 a few years ago it is still around that figure.
Of course there are a number of jigs out there but very few that have say offer the versatility of either the Woodrat or the Leigh.
The idea of having a decko at the video first would certainly be the way to go if indeed the intent is in the region of investing a good portion of your hard earned.
Let us know how you get on with your enquiries.Strange to think that there is'nt an agent in Oz but then again nothing surprises me as I have also had to go off shore in some respects to access sources.
    Cheers
