has anbody tried combining fishing and golf as in the beer adds.

would a 4 wood have enough whack to get a pilchard out past the breakers?

I was reading a US fishing forum and there was some mention of using a golf ball as some sort of fish artactant???

there seem to be a couple of people who arent keen on fishing....... ... why are they reading fishing threads?

    cheers

Well I'm off to Darwin next Thursday night for fishing Sat/Sun with a group of 22 blokes from work. Friday I will be catching up with old friends, but we have also arranged for a game of golf. Best of both worlds

... which proves the futility of putting a poll here, doesn't it?

Golf is an ineffectual attempt to direct an uncontrollable sphere into an inaccessable hole with instruments ill adapted to the purpose.

And you can combine fishing and woodwork. I made up two sets of rod storage racks for the shed a few weeks ago. I can't think of anything to make for golf.

But i still enjoy a round occasionally.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Jack... I'll trade places!!! NO PROBLEMS!!! I wont mind storing my tools wood whatever for a time in TI!!! shyte talk about fish heaven!!

Personally I voted yes... fishing is FAR superior to golf ANY DAY... thing is I havent done any serious fishing since leaving Carnarvon and even then I often drove up to Exmouth to go out... man the fish are worth fishing up there When we moved down I went fishing out a the five mile reef out from Mandurah once no twice caught a couple of fair sized dueys but nothing like what is caught up above the 26th parrallel... I mean FISHING is when you go out toss the line in and pull it back aboard and theres a bloody great queenie or barra or golden trevali on the end of it... THAT IS FISHING!!

although Im also quite partial to "fishing" as discribed by Skew... which isnt really FISHING per se it would probably more correctly termed "eskying" as the main point is the pretense ie the unbaited un tended rod whereas the actually event is the esky and what is within it... and how steadily it will last till the day turns dark and cold while you work out the latest excuse to give her highness for returning without any fish I cant seem to win that one so I gave up goin "eskying" and the damned fish are too small and few and far between down here to bother with so I go "bar minding" as a professional bar support person of note I find that since weve moved to southern climes this is a far more attractive alternative to what these galahs call "fishing" down here

Me? Im gonna wait till I head north again before I go fishing again until such time I will continue to prop the bar an bar minding while waiting.

And anyways Ive got a pretty good imagination so the fish just get bigger and bigger every time I go "fishing" which is actually "bar minding" I mean just last Sundy I caught a flamin great 30lb Schnapper already filleted and cooked to perfection... but a bloody great prawn jumped up out of the water and ate the slippery buggar!
Believe me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!

There is not that long ago when I said precisely the same to my friend, only in finnish.

Some things just are universal. No can do .

Is fishin better than golf? Well everything surely is better than golf.

Now is fishing better than sex? You get to fish with your mates, and the conversation can be better too. I think I'm going with fishing.

Don't even know why I'm reading this, I find both activities boring...well maybe I just have no patience for either... but work must be getting there too...roll on 4 o'clock!
I don't mind mini putt though, I must have a short attention span...is there a mini version of fishing?? Yabby fishing with a drag net in the dam, now I don't mind that, guaranteed a feed at the end.

    Cheers,

Depends on how cute your mates are. And which gender. Also depends on your wife thinking your fishing mates are blokes, otherwise you wouldn't be allowed to go.

Why doesn't everyone combine fishing with golf
    like I do.

I play golf poorly and have developed a definite hook.
I use the hook on my line and catch fish.
Now I'm confused ... am I hooked on golf or fishing??

    Default Fishing/Golf

As Winston Churchill said when asked to comment on golf; "A game whereby the object is to control a ball with objects ill designed for the purpose"

    Amen to that.

And Confucious on fishing 'Give a man a fish you have fed him once, teach a man to fish you have fed him for life'

Fishing gets the thumbs up, along with duckshooting, and game for the table, all served up with your own veggies.
