Default Cheap brew kits - Melbourne (West)

Just a head up to those who brew with kits ....

I stopped off at Coles in Yarraville (possibly Altona - Millers Road, Just off the West Gate) on the way home from work yesterday, they are having a clearance on brew kits ......

Coopers basic kits - $6.00 each
Coopers (the more flashy ones) $8.00 - Pale Ale, Canadian Blonde etc.
Cascade $8.00 - Draught, Larger and Mahogany Porter.

That is a saving of about $6.00 on the $8.00 kits and about $5.00 from memory on the basic Coopers.

I picked up the Canadian Blonde, Larger and Mahongany Porter.
They are at the end of one of the isles with the other clearance items.

Looking forward to putting the Porter down this weekend.

Sound lke an offer to good to miss. I did the Mahogany porter not long a go and its not a bad drop. mate of mine was talking about throwing in 1/2 KG of cracked chocolate into his. I have a Canadian Blonde here that I haven't used yet any ideas as to what I can add to it?

While in Altona and get a good yeast for the kit, not the one that comes with it, and get some decent dextrose, not white sugar as stated on the can, is a sure way to get a bad result.
I can't remember the name of the home brew shop but tell them what kit you have and they will supply the rest, will cost a bit more but the results will be well worth it.

A quick google found it, Maidstone not Altona, close though....
