Default got my 076 ebay find in the mail today

yep i now have a saw with a bit more attitude than the 034.
i have ran and part dismantled the 076 to find out what bits it needs which i will try and get on my wednesday trip to toowoomba ( motor mecca i spose )
i have to replace the bar and chain with some thing to suit what i am going to do with it .
36 " 42" or maybe bigger dont know yet although i did price a couple over the phone today at motor m*&%^% and they aint cheep .then 3/8 or 404 ??. it has a 7 pin sprocket on it now ??
the saw came with a 404 chain and 24 " solid nose bar i will probably keep that for bucking fire wood or some thing may come in handy , but not what i want for milling .

Tex, I got an 084 a couple of years ago, with 24'' 404 chain and sproket. The clutch drum takes rim sprockets so it is easy to change from 404 (for firewood) to 3/8th for milling. I got a couple of special bars for milling, both 3/8th, a 90cm and a 140cm, both sproket nose. Perfect setup I reckon. If your 076 has a spur sproket, you might want to change to rim just because its cheaper and easier to change drive sprokets. I'm also getting an 090 ready for milling - new piston rings and crankshaft seals etc. This saw is 30 years old .

    Texx,

try Sawchain, he's a forum member. He sells bars and chain very cheap.

My 60" cost less than $200, and only took a couple of days to arrive.

I agree, Laurie is a top bloke. Just a heads up that his super low prices earlier this year were one of specials, which I also took advantage of, but don't hold your breath on those specials still being available. BTW a 60" bar is normally around $450 which is about what my 076 cost me.
