Default 2 week job offer - Milling - East Timor

I've posted a pick of a small mill and drying room in this thread.

The Australian owner of the company involved would like an experienced miller to come over for a 2 week stint to improve his milling operation.

You can see from the pic in the other thread that there is a fair amount of teak to be milled on his bandsaw mill.
He'd probably have bought a few cubes of Rosewood by then as well.

You would need to negotiate with the owner directly re wages.
Other than wages, room and board would be provided.
He'd look after you, make sure you felt at home.
He's into fishing/sailing/scuba, if thats your cuppa tea.

I think you'd feel pretty looked after.

The yard is in Dili, the capital of East Timor, a 2.5 hour flight from Darwin.

Basically, to ensure supply for his furnituremaking shop, he needs to buy large quantities of teak and mill and dry it himself... and he'll be the first to admit he needs a lot of help.

    So,
ideally suited to someone running their own milling setup, semi-retired or retired... or who can just get away for 2 weeks on a jaunt.
You'd need a passport, a bag of clothess and a head full of knowledge, thats about it.

PM me for more details... we can have a chat about it if you want to know more.
    Cheers,
    Clinton

    Some more info:
The bandsaw mill is a Chinese made job, 36" driven wheel (sorry for the crap terminology!).
Bandsaw is powered by a 20KW motor.

Blades come out of Surabaya, Indonesia, and he has a few for softwood and a few for hardwood.
Blades are sharpened locally, and are 100mm in 'depth'.

At the moment it is cutting teak only.
    Cheers,
    Clinton

Sigidi - don't think he'd want to pay the freight for your lucas... I'm sure you can run a big bandsaw though... same thing, pushing a blade through a stick?

Tealady - I'll keep my ears open for potters... I know there would be a 'pay your own way' deal with the local artist group 'Arte Moris" (Art Life), but nothing 'paid for'.

That would be cool. I've been potting for 20 years, so I'm sure I could be of some use. I'll worry about what to do with the hubby and child later.
