its still on my phone. So busy, so many things to do. I have to finish these drawings for a client, yes Im getting paid to use Sketchup. Then I really have to start and finish my Vacuum press which I have had sitting around for almost 3 years. Im gonna need it soon, and it will be another awesome tool/machine to have and use.I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

indeed Martrix, nice millin
could you post some pictures of your alaskan mill?
anyone knows what's the longest bar you can run on a jonsered/husqvarna electric chainsaw with 2000Watt
they say 40 cm but can you go 50 cm or so?
the chainspeed is 14,5 m/sec
would that work with an alaskan mill?
i thought about two cheap electric chainsaw and a long bar for two powerheads? but i think those are not cheap?
this looks like yours [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5GuT5dCpoY"]YouTube - DIY Alaskan chainsaw Mill[/ame]

50 cm is going to give you about 35 cm wide cut - probably OK in your european softwoods but at those widths don't forget a chainsaw will turn most of your log into sawdust and you are Much better off using a bandsaw.
A 30 cm band saw can mill a 42 cm diameter log but that size is probably a bit hard to handle physically. In that case split the log in quarters with a CS mill and then use a bandsaw will minimize sawdust loss.
i thought about two cheap electric chainsaw and a long bar for two powerheads? but i think those are not cheap?
Electric chainsaws are pretty limiting though it's much more fun millling in the bush.

Martrix what kind of chain do you have on your electric chainsaw?
I went to a dealer yesterday and he said there isn't a ripping chain for a Husqvarna electric chainsaw only for bigger petrol saw?
Anyone knows what chain to use?
thanks,

cheap saw chain
What I meant to add to my previous post is that this guy has some profiles of chain that has been used once he then remakes them to order resharpens them and makes them to size most still have 90% teeth left on them.Mostly what i buy are 3/8 low profile and the reason 2nd hand suits me is I cut a lot of old dryand dirty stumps for firewood, and I dont like stuffing up new chains.Postage is reasonable I get 3 14 inch chains sent to SA for only 7.50 postage plus chain cost.

cheap chains
when I have bought some because they are used and resharpened he has ground them to ripping profile. My mistake in the last post was that the postage was 7.50 the guy will email a quote for new or used chains.I have started to collect saws and I just tell him what saw I have and He finds out what I need and then emails me.I found on many new chains I saved up to 50%
