    Default atlantic cedar milled

    Finally finished milling the altlantic cedar, I would have had more pics but am having trouble on the tablet. the tree was one nice straight tree but unfortunantly had to cut in 3 for transport, poor little 7x4 trailer. I also had to quarter the tree by hand due to mill capacity. But after a lot of back breaking work I Think I have a nice little haul of various size sections 4x4, 6x6, 13x5's and some 1&2" boards etc. the smell is absolutley delightful. I would dare say so far it is the most stable timber I have dealt with, not a hint of any sort of movement even thin rippings that have been sitting in the sun for days, some trees i have done split before they are taken off the mill it is starting to color up some as it dries.

    Joel,

    It's just as well you are so far away. Otherwise I'd be tempted to sneak into your place and "liberate" the piece in your first pic. Sure is lovely.

    Thanks for the kind words MM, I Did 1/4 saw most of the large sections but it did show some nice character back sawn so I Did a little of that too,
    Sorry to tempt you John, the piece in the first pic was snapped up by another forum member, i was curious myself and did a little green turning last night and rouged out a little 10"x4" bowl, lovely stuff to work with and left the shed smelling very nice apparently the oil is used in many things one being to treat alopecia as i'm 3/4 bald i keep rubbing my hand across my forehead but its not working
