Auxiliary Bar Oiler Ideas
Hi all,
I was chasing ideas for any home-made auxiliary bar oiler setups that any of you guys may have fabricated? I am running an MS880 for slabbing and need the extra lubrication. Using a hard nose bar tip, the extra lube is essential.
TIA
Matt

I had through tegu bar boiler that dropped oil onto the bar grooved but it clogged up and did not deliver enough oil is on my 3 current CSMs I just wick the oil onto the contact point of the bar and chain just as the chain comes around the nose (see new oiler below)

BobL,
Thanks for that, looks like a pretty simple setup to make.
I run Stihl bar oil in the saw, but was thinking of running sump oil / used hydraulic oil in the auxiliary oiler? What are your thoughts on that mate?
Beside the obvious issue with staining of the timber, do these oils do the job, or should I run the designated bar oil in the auxiliary setup too?

I wouldn't use sump oil, for a start it contains toxins that will get all over you but if that doesn't worry you sump oil contains lots of tiny abrasive bits and pieces so chain wear and tear will increase.
I buy all my B&C oil from an Oil recycler - they filter all the crap out of engine oil and then add a tackfier so the oil sticks to the B&C.

I've been paying about $60 for 20L. Its good enough to use in the saw itself.
There should be something similar in your state.
