There have been a couple of threads lately about bandsaws and blades. There are a few of us Bandits out here that are still Learning the Black art of Bandmilling. Here's your chance to spread your Knowledge. I'll go first, It won't take long as I know bugger all.

I am running a 1" 1/4 Bi Metal blade These come standard with a 10 deg hook angle , an about 22 thou Set. I am sharpening the Blades with a Very early Dinasaw Sharpener (Orange One) with a CBN Wheel. All the Research I have found on the Net suggests that the harder the wood the less the Hook angle on the Band. My sharpener will only go down to 8 deg, so this is what I have set the Sharpener on. The Problem with a Bi-Metal blade is that the harder metal is only at the Tip, therefore you only get a couple of sharpens before you have lost your hardened Tip.

What do you Do? Use Bi Metal Blades and leave at 10 Deg, Go to Carbon blades and reduce Hook Angle. Nifty how do you get 4 deg Angle?. What is everyone doing? Let us know your set-ups both Pros and Cons, It may help a few of us out.

Cheers,
Jon
