Bar Box
I know I should get out more often but after seeing Dai Sensei's bar box I felt I had to go one better. So I started making a box to transport bars in and this is what happened! Yeah I know it's overkill but it's done now and should last a while.
I have bars ranging from 12 to 60' and hate just throwing them in the back of the van when I go milling even though I rarely swap bars I feel comforted by having them with me. The box has 4 x 64" worth of slots so I can hold a fair selection of bars where ever I go.

Industrial strength fold down ally handle is because when box is full it's bloody heavy!

About 10 evenings, so somewhere between 25 and 30 hours - there are over 150 "leetle vood sckrews" in this sucker! It's not quite as fancy as it looks. Most of the materials (timber, ally and paint ) I used are scraps or left overs from other projects. The things I bought were the screws and bolts, and the catches and corners. I found a great online site for corners and catches - they sell all manner of stuff for making audio "road gear" boxes and cases - the catches were only $3 ea and corners were $1 ea. A similar catch at the red and green hardware store costs $10.
The bottom half is made from 6 and 12 mm MDF board - that's partially why I ended up covering all the corners with ally angle. The slots are made from single pieces of 25 mm MDF with the slots cut with a couple of passes of a TS. The top half is made from a recycled jarrah floorboard because the whole thing hangs off the top.

Nice work there Bob, looks great
Must weigh a bit though, mine only carries my 42" & 60" blades and it's heavy. Are wheels planned next?Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new
