    Default Saw bench build

Haven't posted on here for a wile, been to busy making sawdust, started on my #2 saw bench build today

The bench I have at present is to big for my generator so have given it to a mate and started building a new one.

The actual bench is an old one out of the mill, but needs some tlc ( new fence, trolley lines, packing, trolleys)

So made up a frame to mount the 20hp 3 phase motor mounted new pulley on bench shaft, made up roller fence, still need to make up a hob and some packing, and a lic of paint

    Carl

I can't help with the I Phone problem but will look forward to seeing some pix when you do work it out.

Your generator must be a good size to start a 20HP motor. I am guessing 75KVA plus at least.

What size was the motor on the other saw bench?

Good to hear you back on the forum.

It's a 38 kva, will use a star delta starter so current draw is low on startup,

Other bench has a 30hp, 10hp and 5hp genny will start it and run it on direct start but its not good for generator.

Will put a 40" blade in this bench other takes a 40 as well

Good to hear from you mate. That saw looks like a real beast . I'd hate to see a kickback . You certainly don't back off on work

    Cheers

    Carl

Goes through like butter in the vid.

If your generator was able to run the 30HP motor on a direct start, which surprises me that it could do that at all and I can understand why it isn't good for the genset, was it still going to be too much with a star delta starter?

I guess the answer is yes if you have gone to the trouble of preparing a different saw bench.

the generator would blow smoke just to keep the saw running once you tried to do a cut it would die right down.
