    Default Blackbutt and tallowood

Making a change from camphor, last weekend we cleared some trees that had been left by previous loggers, some, as they had a fireburn in the base.

Result was 4 x tallowood logs 3 metres long x 1 metre wide and 16 logs from blackbutt from 3-6 metres long. The large log with a damaged base had a 6-8 inch pipe but the surrounding timber was ant free and beautiful,2 have fiddleback and a swirley grain100_5101.jpg100_5099.jpg100_5100.jpg100_5098.jpg100_5105.jpg100_5104.jpg100_5103.jpg100_5102.jpg

Ignore the dates, got some cheap batteries from Duck Smith an they are worth about what we paid for them and last long enough to want constant replacement with the option of a date change in the camera and.... anyway who says you can't live in the future

    Now.... back to more camphor......

    Regards

    Greg

I do like a bit of Tallow Greg. Good and strong, and good for outdoors. Not a big fan of BB though - it just loves to split (which makes it good for firewood I 'spose).

Recently had an outdoor stair rail made from BB (not my choice) and it's starting to split after just 10 weeks (3 coats of decking oil and 5 coats of Polyurethane won't keep the moisture out). He should have used Spotted Gum (or Tallow 'cept it's not available here commercially)
