Tim,i milled a Blackwood log few years ago that was aound 90cm D.B.H,and was fiddleback from top to bottom..branches down to 30 cm were riddled with the fiddle! Whilst this was an old ,hard grown paddock tree,with large spreading limbs,what reason could be given as to why even the small branches were ridiculously figured (they weren't under compression).My thoughts are that it is a genetic phenomenom...i milled a Blackwood few weeks ago that had fiddleback from top to bottom,but only in the sap margins (into the heartwood only just),i thought that was a bit strange ...MM

Hi mapleman,
That is some very fine figure. It would look great in an infill plane with the figure and the varying grain colours. Will keep an eye on your progress.

Spent alot of time today cleaning up the headwood,lying around the paddock...still had time to drop this fellow..it had 6m of nice straight mill log(s)...MM
