    Default New Block

Well after nearly a year of fence sitting on here 3 failed contracts on our unit and quite a bit of uncertanty the Boss has finally agreed with me on a block of land near Childers in QLD. Now as conservationist I plan to make use of the timber I need to remove and plant me some nice harvestable trees. But one thing that has stopped us in the past has been the land zoning here in QLD but if your after a block lets face it they arnt making any more land with timber removal approval these may be worth at look. (ps) is it illegal to plant Champhor luarel. "Corfield Park" Rural Land For Sale in Childers - Queensland PSS I am not advertizing nor connected to these people in any way . Just looking for neibours I can borrow tools off lol and hopfully helping some one get a block they can do what they like with

you can harvest timber off any piece of freeholdland in queensland. and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

unless the greens get their way then were all screwed.

so what size bit of ground?

yes it is illegal to plant camphor and any camphor you have i supposed to be removed. it is a noxious weed.

Now I'm not a Queenslander but I have seen some stuff in the QLD DPI sites that may contradict this.

when they closed state forests and put VPO's on freehold land teh mills were guna be 20 years or more without logs before any plantations grew. so they braught in a thing called a forest practice.

we fill in a form and send it in tellign them we are carrying out forest operations on teh block and we are right to go. you dont ask for permission you tell them its happening. so long as you ad hear to the code you are right.

There would be other items to be met also where logging isnt allowed, some are, old growth forests, rainforest, endangered ecological communities, steep lands, aboriginal sites & buffer zones.
Which contradicts your statement of "you can harvest timber off any piece of freeholdland in queensland "

The forest practice thing sounds sought of like the "settlement clause" here in WA. Any farm that was originally allocated a separate 5 acre title on it for potential school sites years ago was given a settlement clause where timber could be taken for personal use but not commercial use. This apparently still stands today.

Inter my understanding of the Forestry Practices permit is that you can't use it on anything, but you can touch land which the DPI have mapped 'no go' although having said this, my understanding is based on info from others, so can't be totally sure of it's veracity without checking it out myself
I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!
