Default I want some boards re-sawn in Melbourne

    Hi,
This is my first post so tell me if I am doing things wrong.
    I have got 2 boards 1 myrtle, 1 blackwood about 2.4 mtr's by 300 by 32 mm.
I want to have them re-sawn down the middle to make book matched boards for some boxes I want to make. Does anyone know someone in Melbourne or nearby that could do this? I am happy to pay a reasonable amount or if its an enthusiast I would consider giving some of the wood in exchange for the work, it really is very very nice 1/4 sawn timber.

    Thanks in advance
    Tom

You would have to look for someone with a bandsaw remill that is for sure, not many people would have a bandsaw capable of a 12 inch cut, and most band mills like the woodmizers and such only cut to 1 inch from their bed. You may find a local woodworking club that would have the capabilities. Perhaps try here CLUB EVENTS - News & Information - Woodwork Forums and look for clubs or members in the regions you can get to.

Short of that try some local cabbies (cabinet makers.)
I am told that sharpening handsaws is a dying art.... this must mean I am an artisan.

Get your handsaws sharpened properly to the highest possible standard, the only way they should be done, BY HAND, BY ME!!! I only accept perfection in any saw I sharpen.
