Some of the basic chainsaw stuff is buried in the back of my head from my time spent with dad in the bush as a kid. That's over 45 years ago. I'm amazed it is still there. The other stuff is 90% "borrowed" from other websites and talking to people, and 10% constantly trying things out. I'm an experimental scientist by training so all this comes as second nature. I also like fiddling with "difficult" logs which is one way to learn about how to handle problems when they arise later. The one log I would like to have tackled recently but I chickened out on was a 1.2 m diameter marri, but that was because it had partially fallen over and was still tangled up amongst 4 other trees - that sort of thing I reckon is best left to a pro faller.

Me too but I'm not holding my breath though - it's been there a long time.
