For my two cents sthil husky or jonsered which are made in the same factory as husky..Any of those are as good as each other..

Well Jonsered and Huskvarna are owned by General Electric but I don't think Stihl is.
I once went to the factory in Germany and discovered there were about 5 factories making different bits. They were old factories in a Large town(Waiblingen near Stuttgart) thats why they have factories in other countries. So I don't think GE would get them to make their saws aswell. Also Stihl have been copying Huskvarna for years as soon as there centrifuged air to the carby patent runs out Stihl will have that aswell. Back in the 70's small Stihls were heavy boxes with a bar on the side now they are all the streamlined husky shape and rev higher.

I have never ever heard of a professional faller getting rid of a stihl & changing brands because of problems with the saw & not being happy with it.
Which cant be said for the huskys or others.

how many stihls are there around that are 30 - 40 years old and still running and getting regular use and u can still get parts for.
i have 4 for a start.
and how many other brands are there around that are that old and still workign liek a new saw.
tehre are more stihls than all teh other brands together.

I have to agree with Carl on the longevity and the parts resources for the Stihl. But I still think that Huskavarna and Jonsered are just as good at what they do and parts are readily available as well I think that basically it comes down to your own peronal preferance. But in saying all that the first saw I reach for everytime is my stihl.
And Carl that saw with your brother is tiny check this link out.

Carl have a guess and tell me how many days - hours per day you have spent using a husky.
Did it do ythe job that your stihl did?
I have used both Husky and Stihl for the same job - firewood, farm cleaning & fencing and only a stihl for slabbing and i dont think there is much difference between them.
It really comes down to what you prefer - the holden ford argument
Cheersregards

Many years ago 2 of us were cutting firewood for a week I had an 032 and my employee 034 his 034 cut much faster but I didn't have to stop so often to fuel up so overall the 032 was considerably faster at cutting fire wood. I think Hushys use more fuel again but never compared like this.
