Well I got the bar dressed at the Stihl shop, and while there, was subjected to a fantastic sales pitch regarding stihl chain being the best there is, the only one tested on Aussi hardwoods etc. "who cares how well a chain cuts American softwood" I heard as I was leaving the shop with a 25 ft roll of Stihl chain under my arm. I got home before realising I had paid double price for it . 3/8th skip rip. I have made up a new chain, and I can tell you the rivets were hard as hell to peine over, very obviously harder steel than my previous chain. Whether the rest of the chain is as tough remains to be seen, but the first sally wattle log was decimated, didn't stand a chance .

I have found Stihl rivets require a lot more force to push out than Carlton rivets. From this I though maybe Shihl chain would stretch less but this maybe wrong. I think price is the most important factor.

    I don't know about "a lot" , but I agree it's more.
