cedar and the moon tree
The logs you come accross when people know your looking.
This cedar was blown over in the last storm and no-one wanted it, cept me
It's about 450 dia and 2 mtrs long. Some smaller branches as well.
The other 2 are comming down in a couple of weeks and I was offered them.
One looks like a spotty ( the grey one ) about 800 dia and 3.5 mtrs to the first limb.
The other one is similar but it has an orangy tinge to it. Lent my book to my mate.
It's about 950 to 1000 dia and 4 mtrs to the first limb.
Anyway I was told by one of the helpfull forumites here to look for something that resembled the surface of the moon.
I think this fits the bill nicely.
Going to have a look at a lucas mill next week. wooohooo
Some things just cant be cut with the poor old 390.
Thanks very much peoples, what a helpfull mob.
Cheers

Saves them getting chipped or dumped.
Timing should coincide with the green machine.
Stinging to see what's inside the moon tree.

The moon tree and it's mate came down today.
50t crane on site, great to watch the pro's.
All I had to do was be ready at the right time with a crane truck to take them away. Cool
I was only going to take the moon tree but the arborist said the spotty was one of the best he had seen in a while, so I took it too. Beautiful growth rings.
He said the moon tree is also a spotty, a hybrid spotty. No wonder I couldn't identify it from my books.
Anyway 9T of logs awaiting cutting.
The cheese and kisses says I'm out of control and she may be right. Oops

that looks like a nice score. make sure you let us all see what's inside those trees. the photo of the tree your standing on looks like it could be very interesting inside, and the spotty looks very nice. does any one know if spotty can have a green tinge to trunk?
