guys a bit of a dreamer when it comes to the pricing of what it is all worth but at least it has a decent auction price so far on the saw $315 at the moment. personally i wouldnt buy a farmboss. He says it is made in germany but I can guarantee if the serial number was pulled up the first digit would be a 4 signifying it is made in china.

Honestly Carl I find them to be of equal quality and I have used a few now to see how they both go and honestly I find nicholson to be quite durable as well, they just do not have the wanky smoothed out finish that the stihl and vallorbe units have, they work well and long though.

That would probably be illegal to sale here, might pay for someone to report him.

There are just too many cheapies to provide a comprehensive list. Anything less than a couple of hundred dollars is a cheap electric chain sharpener sometimes characterised by dodgy adjustment screws, thin metal or alloy bits, limited adjustment angles, crappy grinding wheels, poor alignment of chain and grinder, bits that break off or wear too easily. Most will not grind the left and right cutters automatically to the same length without some adjustment. Note the power ratings on the cheapie motors are usually complete BS, besides, 100W of power is plenty for a chain grinder. Some advertize advertize RPMs that are too high and can damage the chain
As usual with cheap stuff it's a lottery - I have heard of some of the cheapest ones doing OK for a limited period of time for a range of normal angles.

'spect the new acquisition may show all the faults that BobL mentions.
Click
(No financial interest).
So far with dry runs it looks OK, and it's been a good learning experience (with Bob's help) to get across all the angles (or should that be angles on angles )
If it works 'in anger' it'll pay for itself in ten grinds.
A recent resharpen of one of the chains was done by 'professionals' and they trashed the cutters. Blued burred and buggered. $40 down the drain. Hope I can't do worse than that.Cheers, Ern
