Cheap Transport

Guys,
Know everyone is always complaining about the cost of freight, especially on items over 25kg.

I have a client who is a transport company/freight broker and was talking to them and they reckon can help us woodies out with cheap transport (courier sized parcels to as big as you have)

They can either utilise space in back loads, or add into their palletised shipments.

The run their own trucks on the east coast, to my understanding they also buy freight space wholesale from other carriers (i.e. they have a permenant contract to purchase 10m2 of space on a truck to WA each week) so they have to fill that space with stock to cover their costs, but still generally at cheaper rates than couriers etc.

And they have also indicated that could possibly offer cheaper rates if people aren't concerned with deadlines (i.e. if happy to wait a couple of weeks till they have excess capacity can get at "off peak rates")

what kind of transport.

it is just coriers or do they to trucks and dogs and crane trucks also.

I use TNT road express to freight my timber slabs/furniture and they work out pretty reasonable. Just sent a slab coffee table to my FIL in Wodonga from Gympie cost $85 and it weighed just under 60kg I recall.
