Just put the log on the right slope and lock the throttle wide open and let it go.
Having wheels on the mill uprights is essential and of course it only goes down by itself as long as the log sides are reasonably smooth. On that log it stopped when it got down to where it flared out to about 50" - at that point had to help it around the sides but there's no significant pushing from me. It does cut faster if I lean on it a bit but it does mean it still keeps cutting while I walk around the other side of the log and add wedges etc.
