    Default Up coming job

The fella has been told this is white cedar, I've not cut it before, so wouldn't know, but from the pics given, the bark looks a heap like silky oak, although from the pics, the grain doesn't look like silky... what are the thoughts???

    Thanks in advance...

    Cupressus macrocarpa

    80% sure.

    light in picture kinda bad.

    distinctive bark says its
    macrocarpa.

Knots kinda throw me off though

If it's white cedar I would have expected the growth rings to be more distinctive and the bark doesnt look like what I know as white cedar....but I'm far from any sort of expert also, not sure that the distiction between heart and sap is like in the pics to be white cedar.... will have closer look at what I have here?

Sigidi, it looks like a Melia to me, which is also known as white cedar. Quite furry, pretty bland, but easy to cut.

    Default more pics

I got more pics for everyone to ponder over, the tree was taken down about a week ago...

and a bit of a close up of the leaves, dunno if they are the colour naturally or if the tree was dying, but from the look of the trunk it looks healthy so I figure the leaves had been hit by frost or where naturally dropping off, so if it's not an evergreen, that rules out Cupressus macrocarpa...

Doubt that its a Cupressus macrocarpa, its very unusual to see them with a straight single trunk as you've shown.

    Typically they look like this
