still not as easy as the bench grinder or the angle grinder as the raker goes over the nose and is nicely and exposed to "just a touch". sometimes it jumps a bit but ah well the tooth soon catchs up. It is not really rockert science

Some people want to cut loads of wood, others have a business to to run, others want to finesse with the details, others want something in between, or a combo of 2 or all 3 of these - different strokes for different folks. I'm happy - it's up to you if you are - if yes, then I'm a bit happier too (Or maybe that's just beer talk!)

Thanks to whoever prompted David for the pic, cause it has me curious regarding the 27RA.

Have to ask this as from the pic, it looks like the 27RA is a Full chisel rather than a Semi-chisel, is this correct David?

I've never slabbed using a full chisel and if it is indeed, then it'll be interesting to see the results when we run it on my slabber.
    Cheers

    It does too doesn't it.

Well, it'll certainly be a interesting day when we get to slabbing.

Looks like a good opportunity to do some time trails cutting on the same log using the 2on 5off 27RX, 27RA and the 27R 2on 3off chain from Lucas who grind the extra teeth off
    Cheers

full chisel will cut faster but bluntens mutch quicker. as it had a finer point that is cutting.

Carl is this still the case (as pronounced) when you reduce the angle back to 10 deg or less.

yep still dosent last anyware near as long as semi-chisel.

because it has a tiny little point instead of a round leading all that has to happen it the tip wear of and it dosent cut so good.

i wound buy full chisel chain any longer because of this reason.

So what is a good deal for 100Ft 27RX,

There was a guy in WA that was making custom chains, he would use a pair of TCT cutters and between each set add blank chain. so you could get exactly what you want, also being TCT it cuts upto 7times more timber then standard chain. also doesn't mind the odd nail etc..

Has anyone tried this option (from memory the chains were nearly 3 time the cost )

    salty
