if these TCT cutters are the same 'TCT' the blades use then they would be cactus with the 'odd nail etc'. The only benefit behind TCT slabbing chain would be the longer life in 'clean' timber and against 'nails etc' it would be useless.

Normal chain doesn't mind the odd nail, you just give 'em a touch up and off you go again, with TCT chain the cutters would just shatter... no more chain

If you sharpen the chain enough times it will end up a skip chain. And they do cut slower

That's because those rakers are way too high - I can see that from here. At those gullet widths those rakers should be more than 0.05" lower than the cutters. Try it, it will be cutting like a new chain!

I haven`t read all the other posts but for what it`s worth I used to buy 27RX and after the cutters were used I would join in new sections of normal 404 on to the same "chassis" and sharpen down to 5-10 deg(5 for tough wood) - this is providing that the chain hasn`t overheated and stretched too much.
Alternatively you can buy 404 chassis with no cutters and make up your own configurations. I found the 27RX to excell in log dia greater than 700. Sometimes I would use full chisel 404cutters at 5 degrees for really tough stuff, but the semi chisel seems to do almost as well.My depth gaufes would be 35-40 thou.
    Cheers

So your saying you can get 27RX for $680 a 100Ft roll... what is the freight cost to 2324, 'cause at that price I am keen to get a roll.

We have a large stock of the 27RX chain and pretty much every other chain from Oregon.

If you want to buy a real we have it for £295-00 which works out at $380-00 US.

It may be easier to buy off ebay here as the shipping is better and it tells you exactly what you'll pay but cost is higher due to ebay fees. If you want x2 reels or more we can do you a better price.
