Cotton wood
Hi fellas, Ol mate tree lopper rang me this morning and asked if cotton wood was any good to me, to which i replied any wood is so hes docking it up into billets for me and bringing it over this arvo. Assuming it is the yankee stuff, have any of you guys milled it before and whats it good for. Cheers, Nev

Cottonwood Poplar??
Its pretty good for shoe boards for tree felling ie. sydney show etc, pretty tough and very light

Small truck decks used to be done with poplar , and willow , onec upon a time .
It might be ok for trailers

Seems to be tough enough. I have seen it use as a trailer bottom.

If it's the same cotton wood we have over here some funky things can happen with it as you turn it. The timber can go from a very light colour to a deep purple brown. See here for an example.
