What is possible with a CS mill
It's not something I would consider doing (my new shed will be made of steel) but here's an example of what can be done with a CS mill.
Attachment 156932
The guy that did this lives in the north west US and gets his logs free from state land - he can only take the blow downs and most are 20" or less in diameter and they are in mountainous terrain like this.

The photos do not show how steep the mountainsides are is but it would take a long time to safely set up any kind of swing or band mill in this sort of terrain.
He uses two second hand 70 and a 90cc saws and a modified granbeg CS mill. All up less than $1000. Being softwood, the biggest slab takes around 5 minutes per cut, so he can completely break down a 8' x 20" log in about an hour. He then takes the slabs back to his shed where he breaks them up with a worm drive circular.
He's is a machinist by trade and a hobby miller that enjoys using CS mills and getting something worthwhile out of his hobby.

Geez, I wish we had trees around here we could cut sheets of colorbond out of.....lmaro
Must say it was a good effort though. there are quite a few stories like that on the net though, most of them trying to sell another type of CSM.I am told that sharpening handsaws is a dying art.... this must mean I am an artisan.
Get your handsaws sharpened properly to the highest possible standard, the only way they should be done, BY HAND, BY ME!!! I only accept perfection in any saw I sharpen.
