More than welcome if he wants to give me a call - if ya can afford that!!!
I use PI x (radius)squared x length - all measurements need to be in metres so a log with a diameter of 600mm and 2.4m long is worked out like this;
(0.3x0.3) x Pi x 2.4 = 0.68 cubic metres if you round it off to 2 decimal places.
When the log is badly tapered I use an average of the two diameters, so lets say the log is 600mm one end and 450mm the other end, then I use 525mm or 0.525m
Other guys will have other ways of doing it, so no probs if ya don't need it, but you can ring me in the morning from the number on my websiteI love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!
Allan.

I have always wondered this too. But this way seems easy enough to work it out.

i use
diameter x diameter x .7865 x length
that way if i dont have a girthing tape i can use teh diamiter at either end instead of center diameter.
so
small diamiter x big diamiter x .7865 x length.
