Best place to cut up a log? (in adelaide)
Hi all.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
I'd gotten myself a medium piece of wattle log (1m x 30-60cm wide). I was hoping to get it cut into slabs. It's got a few cracks, and isn't the best, but I think with a bit of resin and love, it'd look fantastic.
I went to a local sawmill, and they said it was too large for their machines, would chew it apart, the best bet would be a chainsaw, or lucas mill.
I was wondering if there was anybody in Adelaide (northern preferably), who did these. And how much (roughly) it'd cost to cut it up?
Thanks.

Are you still looking for a mill?
I know some guys at Mt Torrens with a Lucas mill. They did a big redgum tree for me some years ago. I could give you their number if you msg me.

Good Columnmn
You might like to show us some pix of the log or the finished product or preferably both.

I can take some photos and put them up, but I didn't think anybody would be interested in a log of wood. Far more interesting when it's cut and polished up.
To keep you going, here's my latest project. I'm building a corner desk for work. Out of a 3m long stringy bark slab. I've used resin in between the slabs, and filling up the rotting centre. Even left a few bug in the resin, looks awesome.

You may be surprised what interests us. A before and after sometimes shows what can be achieved with something that at first glance would have been considered for firewood. The resin technique has potential. My son uses this for his didgeridoos as the surface has to be perfect and free of holes to work sound wise.
