Deep Yellow Wood
Milled these pieces today,revealed birds-eye,fiddleback,and a good mix of colours..the tree is Deep Yellow Wood ( Rhodosphaera rhodanthema),you don't often see it these days as alot of it was cut out of the scrub in years gone by..something a bit unusual..MM

Looks gorgeous
. Hopefull it will hold its colour when it dries.
Looking at the ANBG IBIS common name database, Rhodosphaera rhodanthema is also known as Tulip Satinwood, and Yellow Cedar.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

The bark looks like Red Cedar,the leaves are similar too..MM

Down here we call it Yellow Cedar. Milled some about ten years ago. Dries easily, very stable and works and turns well. It does retain its colour. Originally Posted by MAPLEMAN
