HAH!!! Yeh, I saw this recently and thought to post it, but then promptly forgot. So thanks for the reminder.
It's a damn sweet drop and you can tell by the guys response!! I'd be that chuffed to save both the house and the shed too. The gap and size of the trunk is pretty impressive. I'm sure someone will say that he should have done it another way...but where is the awesomeness in doing it properly and safely I ask?
I've only ever dropped one that had to be that tight once (technically barely a 1 meter gap with a 500mm trunk) and had to make a tall curved tree fall in an arc to get it to happen. I came pretty damn close (and I'm only an amateur hack) with 1/3 the width of the trunk clipping a fence post to land perfectly up a curved driveway. I wish I had video taped that one (rather than the one of me getting caught under half of an uber trunk I'd split) because I'm damn proud of my...luck (not skill ) in that fell.
I love these kinds of vids...almost as much as the ones where it goes completely wrongEvery time you make a typo, the errorists win.

It is a sweet drop and you always get a buzz out of drops that come off, now if only i had of filmed the many I've done that have been far technically challenging

He is one very skilled operator but even the best still pray and give thanks for a challenging result

That was breve-wracking to watch!
We had a 25m gum tree lean toward out house a couple of years ago and needed to have it dropped. I wasn't game and neither was our son (with lots of arbourist experience). He knew someone else with more expertise and called him. He did a great job, climbing with my son and dropping all the branches down in 2 foot blocks. He then went to drop the trunk in one piece right into the olive 'orchard' next to the house . Pam was petrified worrying it would smash her olives trees.
He put a small stake into the gap between her lovely trees and said if the trunk didn't hit the stake, he wouldn't charge us!
Well, the stake didn't survive but not a single olive branch was sacrificed..... We paid the (quite reasonable) bill gladly.Cheers,
Joe
