It would be good if there was a central (non ebay) site for ebay complaints, somewhere where you could search on a seller's or buyers ident and see what people have to say uncensored.

Purchased a 62cc chain saw ($70) from AGR, and so far have no complaints.
Also purchased a pressure washer from them and cannot fault it.
Shipping costs from them are high.

You must have got lucky then, or you don't mind the big pools of oil it leaves on the floor, or the fact that the oil pump stops working after about an hour of use, or that the pull starters fall to bits every time you go out, or the fact that all of the nuts and bolts fall out regularly and that when you try to tighten them to more than finger tight it strips the threads in the castings. oh and pull the plug out, throw it on a fishing line as a sinker and replace it with a decent one, it makes a world of difference.
I am told that sharpening handsaws is a dying art.... this must mean I am an artisan.
Get your handsaws sharpened properly to the highest possible standard, the only way they should be done, BY HAND, BY ME!!! I only accept perfection in any saw I sharpen.

Sorry to disagree but it is two words.
eBay Australia Shop - AGR Machinery Pro Equipment Store: Tiller, Generator, Post Hole Digger
In my Nov post I already listed the Whirpool site but I've gone back and had another look to check developments on this issue.
There is still only one thread about AGR Machinery (AGRmachinery does not come up in their search function)
Since Sept 2010 there are ~100 posts in that thread.
By my count there are 11 posts describing actual complaints by the people who had them.
3 gennys
2 CS
2 mowers
1 each of; log splitter, Hedge trimmer, Ramp, Post hole digger, and pump
So, 11 real complaints in 100 posts.
There are several posts about "my mate had a problem with his X" but knowing the way mates exaggerate I am ignoring those posts. The remainder are general comments, follow up threads about the same complaints, and reports of various practices (see below).
Carefully searching across the web shows that a number of the complaints are duplicates in other forums.
According to their e-bay site in the last 12 months they have had
35724 positive feedback, 224 neutral and 45 negative.
Please bear in mind I'm neither supporting or bagging this company - just providing the facts.
Based on the above stats it's no wonder that they continue to attract buyers.
To counteract those basic stats there are a several alleged reported practices that anyone would find disturbing including, tampering with machine ID stickers and failure to return products. The confirmed removal of their telephone/fax numbers and street address from their website is the most disturbing pratice. I can understand the latter for an individual e-bay seller, but for a bona-fide company with such a high turnover that is a very bad sign.
The feedback numbers from any supplier should be taken with a large dose of salts. If products continually fail after the feedback is provided by the buyer of what use is positive feedback. As far as I'm concerned positive feedback only tells me something about the speed of delivery and how quickly immediate problems were sorted, and nothing about the medium to long term reliability of a product.
Would I buy from this supplier - no way. But my take is that, irrespective of snake oil advertizing, anyone who buys anything at a "too good to be true" price and strikes a problem deserves what they get.

Stats not worth a crumpet
Sadly Bob the feedback does not actualy reflect the truth , ebay are very clever about how this works , also sellers encourage posative feedback as soon as possible , also there is a time limit on how long you have to leave feedback , which also reduces negative feedback , they also have what is called follow up feedback , which is not worth a crumpet , as you cannot change the feedback rating to neg or pos later if you change your mind . As for buying on ebay , I dont see a problem with it , 99% of the time I have done well , but just like dealing with the local shops you always come accross at least one scumbag , thats life . Cheers MM

Agr machinery
i have had a similar experience with AGR i bought a 12v air compressor for my car from there it seemed to be decent for a decent price... not ridiculously cheap so didnt think twice. they claim to send items immediately tho it took them 6 days to send it then atleast that again to receive it (which i realise is not their fault). when i got the item i opened it to find that the power cables had bared wires, 1 air cleaner had the thread broken off the other cracked, i opened the filters to find the element folded over (so effectively doing nothing), the item had many scratches all over it. they claimed to have postage insurance on it so i went to aus post to make a claim the had the item 'inspected' and say that to the best of their knowledge the item appears to have been broken before it was sent as the styrofoam packing was in tact around the air cleaners. i sent them an email with photos immediately they replied asking for photos so i resent them. they offered me a $15 partial refund or return for repair. i bought the compressor as i was going away and wanted it for reassurance so i purchased a similar item locally as i could not wait 3 weeks for a new item to be sent to me after they received mine. they responded to my request with an email saying that their email server was down, seeing that they were playing me i took it up with paypal, they granted me a return for refund tho i would have to pay postage. how is it that i would have to pay over $25 for postage for essentially nothing in return (apart from the obvious headache) especially after they claim that any warranty repairs will be shipped at their expense. i have since taken my complaint to fair trading and am awaiting a response. i will repost when i hear something from them.
i know thats a long post but relaying my experience to save others the headache that AGR Machinery has caused me
i believe they have high feedback rating due to fact that their items may work the first time but dont last as most people only comment on item look and delivery times as ebay does not allow a test time for product before feedback expires

I bought a chainsaw off of them for about $100. I needed to cut down a couple of Palms & then cut them up to get rid of them. Also bout a couple of extra chains.
so far it has worked a treat. If I finish what I want to do, I will prolly never use it again, so for me, It was money well spent. But its like anything, if you want quality, pay money. If you just need to get a job done, well for me, it was cheaper to buy one than hire one.
Horses for courses
SteveThe fact remains, that 97% of all statistics are made up, yet 87% of the population think they are real.

Although I look at a sellers feedback, I find it very difficult to place anything other than cursory store in what it says.
Ebay doesn't really allow sufficient room to describe issues in their feedback. I have left negative feedback on a couple of occasions and in no time at all the seller is back to 100% positive.
If you want quality goods pay the price for a known brand or accept the gamble and take it on the chin when you end up with a pile of component parts.
