Qld / Tas Blackwood
Just a nice little load milled by Carl – Weisyboy
Don’t you just love this stuff – Acacia melanoxylon – C'mon Carl get on the Forum and tell me you don't like it.
Not the best of timber but in Qld beggers can’t be choosers with this stuff – it doesn’t grow to well up here
Even a heart for Valentine’s Day

Depends on where you live Damien - I'd say more often it is called Black wattle but I've heard it called Black Sally, Sally wattle, Blackwood, S . . t Wattle, Common Wattle, even though "Sally" is more for A. salicina and even other wattles. Common names are difficult to work with as you are never sure if that is what people are meaning. Black wattle in one place is not the same tree somewhere else.
This is why I prefer to deal with Botanic Names - often I have to go and specifically identify a tree before I'll say I want the log. Blackwood is very easy to differentiate up this way - none of the other close wattles have the super twisted / knotted seed pods. Acacia mearnsii is from Central NSW south along the coast and the seed pods are "dangly straight" but this is also called Black wattle. Seed pods hang around for a long time - look at the base of the tree to find older ones to try to identify which "Black wattle" you have.
Damien - I just noticed that you are from Sunshine Coast - I'd say Black Wattle there is A. melanoxylon for sure - it is very common up there especially as a pioneer species. This came from Sunny Coast (Peachester).

Bruce, something happened on here where he got bagged about felling, the angle of a tree or some-bloody-thing he got bagged about, along with being bagged all the time about spelling, he seemed to get some kind of issue from someone on the forum every other week.
He's a younger fella, dunno if everyone realised he got his Lucas at about 17 I think, pretty sure he isn't 21 yet! I figure despite some issues with spelling (and we all have them sometime) he's out there workin tryin to earn a buck and doin it off his own sweat and grey matter, so good on him!!!I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

Yes a real shame on those smelfunguses (yes it is a word look it up - people who are focussed on finding errors and mistakes in others - you can work out their motivation yourself).
Carl was a real contributor here and 15 out of 10 for what he has achieved and the person he has become
