Default flooring sample from pratten qld

we have got a block of timber to cut just west of pratten qld, and had to do a smaple of the spotted gum for a reseller in sydney.

2 x 16 hour days (3.5 hours driving each way and 8 hours milling) and 6.6 cube of log to get 2.5 cube of first grade spotted gum. plus a heap of 6x2 rails from the heart that the property owner can use.

flooring feedstock has to be cut oversize to allow for shrinkage so we did 156mm x 27mm and 106mm x 27mm to get 135mm and 85mm decking boards as an end product.

some nice timber can out of these little old spotty trees.

It sure was a bit of an experience, met some 'different' people, even saw a young fella (about 10-12) skin his first animal on his own - funny thing was another kid was there (about 6-8) and couldn't believe that is where meat came from

A few more pics from the two days...

The test load all tallied, graded and strapped ready to drop off at the depot for treating.

The worst short award goes to Carl - he is trying a convict era revival.
