any thing that gets the log off the dirt is a good idea .i just roll them on some scrap timber or roll them so i can cut from the other side . maybe if we get more rain ,might try making one . cheers Bob

Wish I had known they were going to cut them down! I would have hired a truck with a Hiab and gotten all of the main trunks as well. The silly things people do. Good score Glen.
The lifter Is among a heap of woodwork plans and such I bought on a dvd, when I saw it I thought "That has to get put on this forum."

I reckon it would probably handle a bit larger than 12" but I would say that you could always use the plans as a starting point for a larger one I reckon you could also make it so that it easily converts to a cant hook as well
I cut a few around the 12 inch mark bob, some of the nice timber trees do not get as big as jarrahs and stuff, you know things like desert oak, blackwood, persimmon, osage orange, hairy oak etc.etc.Last edited by Travis Edwards; 5th February 2010 at 05:52 PM. Reason: forgot the comment about timbers of small stature.

I actually thought of putting wheels on it so I can use it to get smallish logs into position when I have my rail set up. beats trying to manhandle them, or moving the rail all the time..

oh allan.
you can buy verry similar items i have used one and thay are ok for lifting small logs for docking but you cant lift a large log nd even if you get it up its a lot harder to get it off again.
