Default Gloat and request for suggestions

I've just scored a rather large stack of Blackbutt (E Pilularis) logs, somewhere north of 100 tons worth, all of good size and quality

I'm thinking of running them into flooring, something I'm normally reluctant to do because of the waste. Does anybody have any better suggestions?
    Cheers,
    Craig

I'm not sure who the landowner is or where they're from. I got them from the bloke doing the clearing. They are from the Sunshine Coast somewhere.

Have you tried sanding E. Pilularis? Let alone slabbing it. I've never cut anything so abrasive, even turpentine.

na its just that i just looked at 150 cube at cooroy were hardly worth milling.

i love cutting blackbut. cuts nicely with little bow/spring and is light to move.

If you're happy to cut a bit oversize, and do just blackbutt, I'd do flooring get upwards of $800-$850 per sawn cube

Depending on where they are Craig, I'd sub-contract to you so you don;t even have to leave Brissy or run your mill etc.

Looks like flooring it is to be, as well as some step treads, I reckon.. I'll try to do some pics when it arrives.

There is a good market for step treads cut oversize 320x55 and 320x42 as long as possible and down to 1.2m. Kiln dried it brings top dollar ( over 3k per cube in Brisbane). Just make sure it is clean and doesn't have any pin hole. If it has pinhole you might as well cut it into scantling. It will check badly when drying so take steps to slow it down.

    cheers
