As far as you know JT, is it green or seasoned? I have a grading ticket and can grade it for you, where on the coast is the beam?

Does it have any knots, splits, heart shake, borer holes, any sapwood?

Because you are using an oversize member, that would reduce the "F" rating needed & if there are some defects which take it out of structural No 1 grade ( F27 for unseasoned grey ironbark) you may have to look at this option.

Had a good old chat with JT today - just great to 'meet' forum members

Gonna try to get out to grade this beam for him over the weekend - just have to see what the boss has to say about it.

If not this weekend JT, I'll make sure I get to it so the engineer has nothing to complain about.
