    Question Grading of timber

    G'day Folks,

I have a quantity of pine 88mm x 48mm, I suspect baltic pine, but I know nothing about timber varieties. I would like to use this timber for construction but firstly must have it formally graded. Can anyone suggest who might be able to do this with certification, preferably in Central Queensland? I'm not looking for a freeby.

from my understanding (i have had people with almost the same requirement before) timbers from outside australia cannot be visualy stress graded as we do not have any stress group or other information on them. they have to be machine pressure graded (MPG) the only places that do this are the bit pine mill and they do not want to stop there operation to run some pieces of crap.

the last bole i new that got a load of Baltic pine he had a big bonfire and bought plantation pine, because of the cost.
