Granberg Alaskan design weaknesses
In an earlier post BobL mentions the price and design weaknesses of the Granberg Alaskan mill.
Just as a matter of interest, what specifically are the design weaknesses that the granberg has.
I am about to build my own and would hate to repeat their mistakes.
Gotta build the best mousetrap you know.

Rather than repeating myself look here.
One thing I don't mention is the standard bar clamp design means the saw has to be removed from the mill to change the chain but if you in that whole thread you will see a heap of designs that do not use clamps and drill the bar and bolt the bar direct to the mill - this is a much better design. This is what I use On my small alaskan. On my big alaskan I use a GB style saw mount and a reverse clamp on the bar nose - this also allows me to leave the saw on the mill while I change the chain
