Ya better off to hire a tree lopper fella to do the chipping, help him out and therefore lower the cost, as for hiring it, I reckon as you've found a good sized one wouldn't be available
I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

And you know why you probably can't hire a descent sized one?
In the US a bloke murdered his wife and disposed of her by "chipping her" with a hired tow behind vehicle chipper. The police had their suspisions and got DNA samples from a small part of her finger, and a tooth I think.
But the clown may have gotten away with it if he hadn't been noticed by someone driving by him doing his "chipping" in the early hours of the morning
By the way the cutting head on some of those chippers weigh 800lb!!!!!No wonder they can "eat" trees
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

    gday Itsposs
Welcome to the area. I'm surpirised Handy Hire don't carry chippers. One of the forumites Chowcini, I think knows some of the tree loppers here in Hervey Bay. He might be worth having a yarn to about getting a contact of someone who has chippers etc. I can mill but not chip so cant help out myself.

    Default Chippers

Have you tried asking in the Tree World forum. Heaps of arborists there. You may need to be more specific, like size (mines a 12" machine and considered small for a commercial op.) and are you starting up a tree business or just got some shredding to do? all the best Kel

Sorta been thinking bout starting up my own but I ve got an Injury holding me up. I ve found all the gear I need and the work I ve been given has paid for a new cheap chain saw and insurence as well as alot of huge cypress trees but I need to clean up the swath. I cant take the timber an leave the mess and as its in town I cant pile it up an burn.

have a chat to your local shire council, They usually have a few rigs kicking around and usually will do it for a reasonable cost. I have even heard where people have seen them out and about and gotten trees chipped for a box of beer.

Some Local tips will take greenwaste for bugger all or even free as they mulch it and then sell the mulch to potting mix mobs and stuff.
