    Default Help..my redgum slabs are splitting

    The tree had been dead for years.But now some of my slabs are splitting.Any tips because I know redgum can be flooky.

    Some pics, including close ups would be useful. Also details of when they were milled and where/how they were stored/covered will help a diagnosis. The loverly weather we have been having probably hasn't helped.

    They're splitting cause it's very hot and it's evaporating the moisture out of them too quick for the timber to acclimatise.

    You either moved them to a cooler spot, seal them up better to slow down the moisture loss or re-saw them once they are dry.
