interested in helping me salvage a gum tree??
Hello All,
Just thought I'd post this here to see if anyone in the Perth area (Bassendean to be specific) is interested in milling a very large gum tree that I may have to remove... obviously I would make myself available to help in whatever capacity I could.
I say maybe as it is a possibility that the tree guy may do a safety prune... which I assume will be removing a portion of the canopy to hopefully stop the tree from coming down in a storm etc... and this would obviously produce less usable timber to mill if any.
I don't think this pruning will work but I'm not an expert.
With that in mind I am preparing for the likelyhood of having a massive amount of wood being removed to the tip and this doesn't sit well with me as I recon the timber should be salvaged.
Just to be clear I am not selling anything, if you are prepared to mill the wood it is yours and maybe I could keep some in exchange for labour on the job .
To give you an idea of size the tree is on a 1/4 acre plot and the canopy covers the back third of the property
If the tree does get cut down I would ask the company to leave any sizeable / suitable lengths for milling if someone is keen to do this otherwise I will get it all taken away as I don't want to spend the $$$ to get gear that I would only use once.
Anyone interested??
Steve

Steve
I would suggest some description of the tree, species (gum is pretty broad ) and of course photos, if possible, will help and encourage anyone in your area to come forward.
You are certainly going about it the right way.
